"Think it through before buying!!"
Think it through before buying. Especially family plan.
Changing my password: HORROR-issue. Helpdesk: not responding. Be sure that there are enough interesting masterclasses for you. So surf before you buy.
And sending guest-passes: DONt DO THIS! They just want to trigger friends and family to buy. And now they are a bit mad for sending this worthless guesspass.
Shame on you MasterClass.com!!

I was really interested in classes and then they sent me a damn Mother's Day offer with baking as the featured skill. After I enaged with them on classes on leadership, creativity, space exploration, displomacy and FBI...they sent me a baking offer. How. Damn. Sexist.

I want to learn from an FBI profiler and you are suggesting bread? Don't even attempt to argue that baking is for men and women. You tied a Mother's Day offer with BAKING.

"Masterclass is 100% Deception"
I had a moment of insanity. I considered joining masterclass, because of a promotion, but then I recalled experiences friends shared with MC. The game starts with the promotional pricing hook. The pricing on their website is presented as if you'd be billed monthly, but in reality you must pay the year upfront, so it's annual charge. As others have noted, autorenewal is agreed to without the customer's knowledge. They advertise the ability to download videos to your device to watch offline, but sadly it's another lie, because you get a link to their website. A link to a website is not a video downloaded on a device...so, no membership means no video. I can't stress enough how deceptive MC is, it's beyond sickening. I spoke to an agent on their chat and she was incredibly clueless, so I called customer service, again clueless, so don't count on any level of intelligent support whatsoever. MC is a recipe for disaster. Save yourself the agony that will be waiting for you later. Completely unethical company...stay away from this mess.
* * * Reply to Masterclass response: Actually, you're wrong about not interacting with MC as a customer. I WAS a customer, years ago when the MC first started and I speak from experience. I bought the buy one, give one membership and it was auto-renewed without my knowledge and the same thing happened to the person I gave the gift membership and you can read many comments here on Trustpilot from others who have experienced the same. Let's talk about how you market memberships. When you first look at the membership options, the first thing a person sees is a large red 'select' button guiding you to a mid-range, but more expensive membership choice. Under the bright red button is the percentage saved with the promotion, highlighted in bold, bright green against a black background so it stands out. Under both of those is the cost in white, not a bright color. Anyone that looks at the amount broken down by month will think the membership is paid monthly which is not exactly ethical. Off to the left side in white, not in bold, you sneak in 'billed annually'. Why bother putting a monthly amount if you bill annually? I'll tell you why, it's because you're less likely to have customers sign up if you are truthful with them and put the annual price under each membership plan. This is deception plain and simple. It shows how MC is revenue driven versus having a solid customer satisfaction rating by providing a great service and operating in an ethical manner. Not only does MC have a lackluster rating on Trust pilot, it's exactly the same on other sites that provide reviews.

They have taken money from my account a full year after cancelling. Trying to get my money back- but it's a hard slog.
I'm being told I'm past my 30 day money back window. I cancelled this on Sat, 27 Nov 2021 - so I reckon taking money from TWO YEARS after cancelling is the real issue, not their 30 day policy.

I canceled my subscription the day it renewed. They only refunded half of a one year subscription because I did not cancel before the renewal diet but on the renewal date.

Great classes from accomplished people. You can learn a lot, but you have to do the work. I especially liked all the writing teachers.

There is nothing to learn in most of these classes, if you are seeking education, I highly recommend sticking with You Tube. Aside from the cooking classes, which were okay, its mostly celebrities speaking about their life experiences sprinkled with self-gratifying praise. If this were not a Christmas gift from my wife, I would have begged for a refund.

IMO, this service is not worth the money, as there are plenty of cheaper options out there to listen to people speak their opinions and talk about life experiences.

I honestly thought it was a huge waste of time and money. I didn’t do my homework so it’s on me. The app didn’t always work. I thought the information was shallow at best.

They responded quickly and took care of the matter on the same day. I’m very happy with the response I received. Although I did not receive the initial email in February, stating that my auto renewal was about to take place (probably because it went to my spam account) and I didn’t receive it, the company did respond to my auto renewal charge which I received today and refunded my visa account 100% of the entire amount. Thank you for responding quickly and taking care of this matter. I also am not interested in any further auto renewal charges and could not get into my MasterClass account so my hope is that they remove any future auto renewals. I’ve emailed that request to MasterClass, as well. Thank you for refunding all of my money.

"I have had Master Class for a year and…"
I have had Master Class for a year and have very much enjoyed all the new things I've learned! It's interesting, fun, and easy to use. Having people with loads of experience sharing their tips with you can take you to the next level quickly. My contact with the Support dept was very positive as well. I would highly recommend Master Class.

"Unethical charging practices"
Received a 14 day pass and was charged for the full membership straightaway. Had to go through customer support to get my money back and I fully expect to be charged again next year, even as they deleted my account.

Terrible practices!
